Kohlrabi with Cilantro Salad

Today we’re featuring the strangely named but absolutely delicious and nutritious Kohlrabi! It’s incredibly versatile, edible both cooked and raw, and has amazing cancer-fighting properties as well!

Kohlrabi with Cilantro Salad

Yield: 4 Servings             Prep Time: 15 Mins             Total Time: 15 Mins


  • 2 medium heads Kohlrabi julienned
  • Bunch cilantro chopped
  • Green tops of a green onion chopped (save the white bulb for another dish)

For the Dressing

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • 1 tsp Sumac
  • 1/2 tsp dried chilli pepper (optional)
  • 1 tsp coarse sea salt
  • a few turns of black pepper


  1. With a peeler or a sharp chef’s knife peel the tough outer skin of the Kohlrabi
  2. On a cutting board thinly slice (julienne) the Kohlrabi and place in a salad bowl
  3. Chop up the cilantro and green onions and toss with Kohlrabi.

For the Dressing

  1. In another bowl, combine olive oil, honey, lime, sumac, chilli pepper, sea salt and black pepper.
  2. Mix evenly and set aside.
  3. Just before you’re about to serve, pour dressing on top of the Kohlrabi blend of cilantro and green onions. It’s so refreshing!
