Introductory

Offering children the opportunity to learn tennis correctly at a young age is a great gift.

We believe it is crucial that people receive excellent instruction at the beginning of their tennis experience and that is why  some of our most capable and experienced teachers act as leaders for our Introductory Programs. Our extensive use of modified equipment allows students the opportunity to rapidly develop their strokes and skills, and successfully play the game in a court suited to their age and size.

Students register for the specific day(s) for the duration of the session.

2016-2017 Sessions

Mighty Mites

The youngest students receive a fun and effective introduction to the game, and then move on to impressively skillful play under the tutelage of top teachers. This program, guided by the ‘progressive tennis’ curriculum of Tennis Canada for ages 5-7, takes place on the ‘Half-Court’ (12m) and uses foam balls and 21-23” racquets, all provided by the OAC. This modified equipment provides maximum enjoyment and improvement.

Futures Program

This is our popular program for beginning to intermediate players, ages 9-12 and 12-16. We use modified equipment and careful progressions to lead students through the crucial first steps in skill development. Our fun, game-based approach emphasizes the use of skills in game situations and friendly competition.

By the end of the first day kids will be rallying and keeping track of score, and by the end of session they will know all the basic playing situations, rules and etiquette of matchplay for both singles and doubles.
