Intermediate Programs

September 11, 2017 – June 24, 2018

Our Annual Intermediate Programs continue to provide students with a steady diet of weekday and weekend training groups. This year, we are combining this excellence of Training with a greater emphasis on Play. The Training and Play opportunities for each Intermediate age group are included in the descriptions and schedule below:

U14 Intermediate Program (Ages 9-13)

Training Activities

Group Lessons (Choice of 1, 2 or 3 lessons per week)

  • Mondays, 5:00-6:30pm (Note: These lessons will not run Holiday weekends)
  • Thursdays, 5:30-7:00pm
  • Sundays, 2:30-4:30 pm

Individual Lessons

These are arranged at times of mutual convenience between students and our Teaching Staff. These can be solo, duo or trio lessons. For those seeking to progress from the Intermediate to the Advanced level, this additional instruction is one of the key ingredients.

Playing Activities

UTR Ottawa Super-Circuit

This new regional circuit is perfect for kids in our Intermediate programs. Each tournament has U12 and U14 age groups. All players are guaranteed a minimum of 3 matches per tournament, and on-court coaching is permitted. The Intermediate Program Leader will be on-site to assist our NTS players, at no additional fee to the participants. There are 3 events in the Fall Circuit:

Tournament #2: October 27-29, at OAC

Tournament #3: December 1-3, at OAC & Carleton Tennis Centre

Players must join the UTR (Free) and register for the tournaments online at www.universaltennis.com

In-House Matchplay Events:

These occur on a pre-set schedule on Saturdays, 2-5 pm. U14 Intermediate players enjoy competition with players from Intermediate, Advanced and Master-Class Programs. The cost of these events is included in your annual fees. FALL DATES: October 14, November 11, November 25, December 16.

OTA Tournaments

Intermediate students are ideally suited to participate in 1-star and 2-star Provincial competitions, and some will be fine at 3-star events as well. Your Program Leader or Lead Coach can advise on this. Players must join the Ontario Tennis Association in order to participate in these tournaments. This can be done online at www.tennisontario.com. The OAC will host a 3-star tournament Thanksgiving Weekend, October 6-9. Additional events occurring around the region and province can be found on the OTA website. Program Leaders will keep students apprised of suitable opportunities.

U18 Intermediate Program (Ages 14-17)

Training Activities

Group Lessons:

  • Mondays, 6:30-8:00pm (Ages 13-15) (Will not run on Holiday Mondays)
  • Wednesdays, 5-6:30 pm
  • Sundays, 2:30-4:30 (Will not run on holiday weekends)

Sunday Matchplay

The most advanced members of the Intermediate Team may be eligible to join the combined Adult & Junior Advanced Matchplay Program, running Sundays, 6:30-8 pm. If assessed as eligible, a fee of $250+hst permits attendance to as many as 26 matchplay sessions!
