Diligent Development Pathway – U14 Intermediate (Ages 10-13)

Playing Level: Intermediate, U10 All Stars graduates, Futures Program Graduates, UTR 3.0+

Program Season: September 16, 2019 – June 17, 2020
Maximum Students: 16 (1:4 Coach-Student)

A fun, effective, highly organized school-year program for Intermediate players seeking to make steady progress towards a High Intermediate, Advanced, or Master-Class level of programming and play. Program priorities and features include:

  • Emphasis on skill development and situational group training (Players seeking to progress beyond High Intermediate to Advanced levels will require additional instruction and competitive play beyond the basic program requirements).
  • Opportunities for Open Play assessment and Friendly Competition through periodic In-House matchplay sessions, and coaching at UTR tournaments.
  • Curriculum emphasizes athleticism, the 5 playing situations, the process of play (ready-set-stroke), stroke development and understanding of the rules, etiquette, and strategies of Open Play, both singles and doubles.
  • On court sessions will incorporate physical skills, emphasizing especially balance, coordination, speed and agility, in general and as related to specific requirements of footwork and stroke production.

Required Activities & Schedule

Minimum 80% attendance of group lessons and matchplay sessions combined (measured after each seasonal term). Competition is not applicable by players are encouraged to participate in suitable High School, UTR and OTA Tournaments. Physical Training is not mandatory but recommended for more serious students.

  • Group Lessons: Mondays & Wednesdays, 5:00-6:30pm
  • Physical Training: Mondays & Wednesdays 6:30-7:00 pm (optional)
  • In-House Matchplays (6):  Saturdays. 2:00 -7:00pm, UTR format, 6 Saturdays (Included in Annual Fee)
  • UTR Tournaments (6): Not mandatory, but Program Leader will be there (Fri Evening & Saturday) to coach participants that play.

  • Players sub-divided into ‘pods’ to ensure suitable levels of challenge
