U8 ALL STARS (Ages 5-7)

Program Season: September 16, 2019 – June 18, 2020
Maximum Students: 12 (1:4 Coach-Student)

A fun, school-year program featuring sufficient regularity and volume of practice amongst a small enthusiastic group to permit significant development of skills. Program priorities and features include:

  • Introduction to the rules, etiquette and requirements of Open Play through periodic matchplay sessions.
  • Duo lessons for enhanced development of skills
  • Curriculum emphasizes athleticism, the 5 playing situations, the process of play (ready-set-stroke), stroke development and the FUNdamentals of sportsmanship and successful play.
  • On court sessions will include emphasis on motor skills, balance, quickness, spatial awareness, body awareness, rhythm.
  • Implementation of Long-Term Athlete Development Stage #2: FUNDdamentals: “The most important focus of this stage is to emphasize fun and enjoyment when playing tennis.”

Required Activities & Schedule

Minimum 80% attendance of group lessons, duo lessons, and matchplay sessions combined (measured after each seasonal term).

  • Group Lessons; Mondays & Wednesdays, 5:00-6:30pm
  • In-House Matchplays (7):  Saturdays, 2:00-5:00pm (Schedule published in advance)
  • Duo Lessons (15): Sundays, 12:00-2:00pm (Scheduled to be assigned)

Tournaments: Not Required
Fitness Training: Not Required

U9 ALL STARS (Ages 6-8)

Playing Level: U8 All Stars Graduate, Mighty Mites Advanced+

Program Season: September 16, 2019 – June 18, 2020
Maximum Students: 8 (1:4 Coach-Student)

A fun, school-year program featuring sufficient regularity and volume of practice amongst a small enthusiastic group to permit significant development of skills. Program priorities and features include:

  • Open Play and Competitive Development through participation in U9 Tournaments (OTA/QTF), TDC Cup and/or other suitable Team Events and periodic In-House Matchplay sessions, structured as UTR events
  • Duo lessons for enhanced development of skills
  • Curriculum emphasizes athleticism, the 5 playing situations, the process of play (ready-set-stroke), stroke development, basic tactics, and the FUNdamentals of sportsmanship and successful play (consistency, quality, variety).
  • Introduction to Off-court Physical/Athletic Development and Training
  • Implementation of Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) Stage #2 and #3: “FUNDdamentals” and “Developing”

Required Activities & Schedule

Minimum 80% attendance of group lessons, duo lessons, In-house matchplay sessions, minimum 6 Tournaments and/or sanctioned Team Events (measured after each seasonal term).

  • Group Lessons & Physical Training: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 5:00-7:00pm
  • In-House Matchplays (6):  Saturdays, 2:00-7:00pm, run as UTR events
  • Duo Lessons (15): Sundays, 9:00-11:0am (Scheduled to be assigned)

Tournaments: Program fee includes Program Leader attending to assist at local/regional events and coaching fee for OTA Team Events (Toronto and/or Montreal)
Fitness Training: Required. 30 minutes per group lesson

Program Season: September 16, 2019 – June 18, 2020
Maximum Students: 12 (1:4 Coach-Student)

A fun, school-year program featuring sufficient regularity and volume of practice amongst a small enthusiastic group to permit significant development of skills and strong results at the Provincial U10 level. Program priorities and features include:

  • Open Play and Competitive Development through participation in Provincial U10 Tournaments (OTA/QTF) in both Local/Regional and Out-of town events, TDC Cup and/or other suitable Team Events and periodic In-House Matchplay sessions. U12 Competition may also commence for players in this group, at the discretion of the Program Leader.
  • Duo lessons for enhanced development of skills
  • Curriculum emphasizes athleticism, the 5 playing situations, the process of play (ready-set-stroke), stroke development, basic tactics, and the FUNdamentals of sportsmanship and successful play (consistency, quality, variety).
  • Off-court Physical/Athletic Training included as Key Element for High Performance Development.
  • Implementation of Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) Stage 1: “Developing”, Stage 2: “FUNdamentals”, and Stage 3: “Becoming a well rounded athlete and building the full-court tennis skills required to be a player.”

Required Activities & Schedule

Minimum 80% attendance of group lessons, duo lessons, physical training, and matchplay sessions, minimum 8 Tournaments and/or sanctioned Team Events,

Consistency of Effort and Focus, Measurable improvement (Skills, Results, UTR rating, Ranking) as per agreed objectives, and Parental adherence to NTS “Role of the Parent” provisions.

  • Group Lessons & Physical Intelligence Training (P.I.T.): Tuesdays & Thursdays, 5:00-7:00pm
  • In-House Matchplays (6):  Saturdays, 2:00-7:00pm, run as UTR events
  • Duo Lessons & P.I.T. (15): Sundays, 2:30-4:30pm (Schedule to be assigned)

Tournaments: Program fee includes Program Leader attending to assist at local/regional events and coaching fee for OTA Team Events (Toronto and/or Montreal)
