Joanne is both the OAC Fitness Director and a certified Personal Trainer through CanFit Pro. She is energetic, highly motivated and dedicated to helping people of all ages live a healthier lifestyle. She was born into an athletic family and has always made health and wellness a priority. Competing at the International and World level in Dragon Boat racing for over 15 years has kept her at the top of her game. She dedicated 7 of those years as Captain of an all-female Dragon Boat team who ranked 4th in the world and is now dedicated to helping others realize their dreams. She combines enthusiasm and organizational skills with a strong work ethic to help produce outstanding results. Fluently bilingual, she takes pride in being reliable, adaptable and is totally committed to doing what she is most passionate about…helping others live a fit life.
Personal Training Supervisor
With more than 30 years in fitness including 10 years as a personal trainer, Sheldon is a professional trainer with the knowledge and expertise to guide, motivate and support individuals toward their fitness goals. He is committed to helping his clients increase their physical vitality through strength training and proper nutrition. As a skilled and proficient mentor, Sheldon is focused on providing quality bilingual service, which includes creating customized programs that will ensure positive results.
Originally from Montreal, Sheldon’s professional credentials include certification in personal training (McGill University), PICP Levels 1 & 2 Strength Coach (Poliquin Group), membership in Can-Fit-Pro, and a certificate in Nutrition in Sport and Performance. Sheldon is also a Taekwondo Master and has trained and competed in this sport at the national level.
Ann Marie is a goal-oriented and energetic personal trainer with a talent for motivating participants with enthusiasm and encouragement. Her goal is to inspire and assist clients in their pursuit of improved health and fitness, to help them to become more health conscious, and make fitness a priority and habit in their lives.
Ann Marie’s certifications past and present include: CanFitPro (Personal Trainer), YMCA (Fitness leadership course and specializing in individual conditioning), Sports Performance Institute (Training for general fitness and general fitness theory) Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (Certified fitness consultant), downhill ski instructor (Level 1), certified yoga instructor Y200 and CPR.
Through her passion for fitness, Ann Marie has competed in marathons (including the Boston Marathon), duathlons (including the 1999 duathlon World Championships), Ironman/half Ironman races (including the 2013 Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, the 2015 70.3 Ironman World Championships in Austria and 2017 World Championship Long Course in British Columbia). She strength trains and practices yoga regularly, and in the winter you may find her competing in cross-country ski and snowshoe races.
Bernardo is a certified personal trainer (YMCA), a Movnat level 2 certified trainer, Canfitpro certified Pre-Post Natal Fitness Specialist, and Adaptive Fitness Certification (Disabilities). He has over 30 years of experience in training, as well as participating and practicing different outdoor disciplines, sports and martial arts.
He sees physical training as a journey of self-discovery that always leads to a balanced and healthy lifestyle with emphasis on quality of movement and functional strength. With a multicultural background, an energetic disposition and a friendly character, Bernardo is quite comfortable helping clients to reach their goals in English, French or Spanish.
Fitness has been a passion of Chris’ ever since he was young. He has been working as a certified personal trainer since 2012, shortly after graduating with a Major/Minor degree from the University of Ottawa.
Chris’ favorite clients to work with are those who are trying to build muscle and increase strength, however he also enjoys working with clients trying to lose weight and reduce fat. Helping a client hit their desired weight goal, while improving both their physical health and mental confidence is extremely rewarding.
David Dallaire began his career as an exercise scientist before joining the OAC personal training team. After studying kinesiology in university and becoming an exercise physiologist he dedicated himself to helping people achieve fitness and health. His extensive experience with movement, high performance athletics, and general fitness allows him to help those from all walks of life that are looking to bring their body to the next level.
Devin is a National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, as well as a Can-Fit-Pro Certified Personal Trainer. He is a passionate teacher with a love for training and self-improvement. He has 11 years of experience as a Trainer and another 5 years as the Saint Mary’s University football team’s Strength and Conditioning coach.
While studying at the University of Ottawa, Devin played 5 seasons with the Gee-Gees football team and has learned from many excellent strength and speed coaches along the way. He has helped people with a variety of general fitness goals as well as many competitive athletes, including numerous university and professional football players.
Tamer Soliman has a B.A. Honours in Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario, is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach and a Registered Holistic Nutritionist. With over 12 years of Fitness industry experience, he has been able to help a wide range of clients with many different goals and challenges. From beginners to elite athletes he is focussed on maximizing each individual’s health, fitness, and nutritional goals. In his spare time, you can find Tamer lifting weights, running trails or playing tennis right here at the OAC!
Tara was a senior competitive skater at the national level and has been coaching at the Minto Skating Club for 25 years. She has trained skaters of all ages from the grass roots level to the Provincial and Canadian Championships. Her personal journey towards general wellbeing (weight loss, improved energy and balance in life) which began a little over 10 years ago created a passion for fitness. She enjoys helping others achieve their goals, build confidence and seeing them simply feel good about themselves through sport and fitness – whether they are new to fitness, returning to fitness, or a young athlete.
Véronique Roberts is bilingual Certified Exercise Physiologist who graduated from the University of Ottawa with a degree in in Human Kinetics. In her time off, she loves to compete! Her first race ever, at the age of 20, was a half marathon at the Ottawa Race Weekend. This soon became her annual race event until she was introduced to swimming and triathlons. Since then, Véronique has raced everything from sprint duathlons to a full Ironman. She has also guided in a sprint triathlon for a visually impaired athlete. As if that wasn’t enough, she also teaches group fitness classes! Whether she is training someone new to fitness or a seasoned triathlete, the passion remains the same – making a difference in someone’s life. She is very thankful to be able to witness her clients’ journey to health and sports performance. Getting her clients out of their comfort zone and improving movement patterns is something she really enjoys doing. No matter what your personal training goal, she is up for the challenge!
Warren is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He is also certified as a Corrective Exercise Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Warren specializes in athletic development and has trained athletes ranging from recreational sports to Olympic medalists.
Jake is a Certified Personal Trainer through the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiologists, a certified Group Fitness Instructor by CanFitPro-FIS, and an Aquafitness Instructor through CALA VWT/GAF. Accredited by “HIGH-FIVE Principles of Healthy Aging.”
Jake is a bilingual trainer who focuses on the “what” and the “why” of exercise. His extended knowledge of the human anatomy and physiology leads to a precise training regime. His goal is to improve joint strength and mobility, increase flexibility and build overall strength. By exploiting your strengths, and improving any weaknesses, Jake will assist you in reaching all of your personal fitness goals. Jake’s passion is dedicated to helping the active aging population regain strength and confidence, and consequently prolong independent living.
Outside of the weight room, you can find Jake on the pool deck, pursuing his love and passion of instructing Aquafitness.
