Friday Feature – John Wins-Purdy
John loves the game of tennis and truly enjoys sharing his love of the game with others. John’s special brand of enthusiasm and encouragement serves to instill a passion for tennis in all of his students. He is very excited to be joining many friends and familiar faces at the Noble Tennis School and the OAC, where he grew up playing over 25 years ago. John enjoys working with players of all ages and abilities who are committed to learning and improving their game and he looks forward to helping you with your game!
John served as the Director of the St. James Tennis Club in the Glebe, Ottawa, between 2010-2016, doubling membership and growing programs participation 20-fold. Between 2013-2016, John served as the first Regional Coordinator for the OTA and Tennis Canada in Ottawa where he directed a tennis development strategy that included well-known programs such as Little Aces and Capital Kids which introduced tennis to tens of thousands of kids in our region in schools, clubs and on public courts. He is a former Elmdale Open, Rideau Indoor Open and City Open Champion and actively follows and attends ATP/WTA tour events. He is a Course Facilitator for Tennis Canada and actively contributes to regional development with the NCTA and OTA. He is currently managing operations in a not-for-profit social enterprise which supports street youth communities in Ottawa and Toronto. John has a B.Sc. in Chemistry and played Varsity Tennis at McGill University, and recently completed his MBA at the University of Ottawa. He lives with his wife and 1 year old daughter in Ottawa
