Meet Gabrielle – OAC Yoga Instructor

If you haven’t already met Gabrielle around the OAC, we would like to introduce you to her today! She runs an amazing class formerly known as Mobiliball, now known as Muscle Restore. This class is great for any athletes who have injuries, are looking to prevent injuries or are looking to use a form of acupressure to help ease some tight muscles and joints. She is very knowledgeable and can help you out with basically any issues you may run into in your day to day life with functionality and mobility.

Gabrielle has been teaching yoga at the OAC since the doors of the new yoga studio opened in September of 2011. Formally trained in Ashtanga, Hatha, Yin and Gentle yoga, she is a self-proclaimed anatomy geek and a wellness enthusiast with a background in injury reduction, yoga alignment and soft tissue self-care.

Her personal journey with yoga began in Whistler, BC, in the early nineties. She began using the practice to correct a lifetime of poor breathing mechanics caused by chronic asthma and to heal the injuries that threatened to keep her off of her beloved snowboard for good.

In 2014, inspired by the questions and concerns of her students with pain and injury, Gabrielle became a certified Yoga Tune Up teacher and Therapy Ball Practitioner; a yoga discipline that combined her interests in fascia, massage, biomechanics and kinesiology, and how it all relates to injury prevention.

She has taught a variety of yoga classes at the OAC over the years. Her playful spirit and love for life are as essential to her as her intuition when creating classes for her students. Gabrielle takes pride in catering to her students’ needs, welcomes all levels and abilities of students to class while encouraging safe, creative and playful movement.

She believes that lifelong learning and conscious movement is the key to longevity and vitality.

What Gabrielle enjoys the most about the OAC, is our members; getting to know them, hearing their stories, sharing smiles and saying hello, getting to know them by name, and feeling a part of our big OAC family!

Currently she teaches three classes on Monday’s: Flow @ 10:30 am, Power @ 6:15 pm & Warm Yin @ 7:30 pm; Beginner Yoga on Saturday’s @ 9:00 am; and 2 Muscle Restore classes, Wednesday’s @ 4:45 pm & Thursday’s @ 10:45 am.
